“Stryker Girls Basketball is a young, yet talented team that has a lot of potential now, and years to come.”
The Stryker Lady Panthers battled the Hilltop Cadets on Thursday, February 11, 2021. Tipoff was at 7 pm but basketball was not the only thing on the schedule. It was senior night. The Panthers celebrated their fellow senior teammates Ariane Dangler and Kinsey Myers. The Lady Panthers looked at this game as not only a win for their team, but for their seniors as well. Stryker Girls Basketball is a young, yet talented team that has a lot of potential now, and years to come. These girls can score, and with that, best be sure to watch for them when it comes tournament time.
It was an uproar in the first half. Stryker was off to a fast start scoring 14 points, and the Cadets only scoring 6. By half time the Lady Panthers outscored the Cadets leaving them with 16 points versus their 24. Stryker's sophomore Sage Woolace made remarkable strides in scoring for the Panthers. Sage, along with her fellow teammates encouraged one another to keep pushing until the final buzzer sounds. Going into the final half of the game the Lady Panthers needed to continue to hold on to their lead. It was tough going back and forth with the Cadets seeing who can "shoot" their way to the top first. Despite the Lady Panthers hardwork, effort, and toughness, the Cadets ended up making a "miraculous" shot in the final seconds to surpass the Panthers. The final score was 36 to 37, Cadets.
The Stryker Lady Panthers were led by Sage Woolace who scored 15 points, followed by (So.) Kaitlyn Myers with 9, (So.) Alexia Wickerham with 5, (Jr.) Marissa Myers with 4, and senior Kinsey Myers with 3.
